Spectacular welcome for newest citizens

NOTHING says "welcome” quite like a loud and proud street parade and full day of celebrations, and that's exactly how Dalby will embrace 19 new Australian citizens at Delicious and Delightful.

19 Western Downs residents with origins from Canada, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, China, India, Mauritius and Poland will make their pledge to our nation tomorrow at a special citizenship ceremony.

Mayor Paul McVeigh said there's no better time to welcome new citizens than at Dalby's annual multi-cultural festival.

"One of the highlights in my role as mayor is having the privilege of representing our country in this import- ant ceremony,” he said.

"Seeing the happiness and joy on the faces of our newest Australian citizens is always special as they join in a weekend of celebrations that embraces many cultures.”

The ceremony will be held on the Main Stage at 1pm on Saturday, August 17.
