Storms predicted for second day in a row

FOR THE second day in a row, severe thunderstorms are being predicted to impact the Darling Downs over the coming hours.

The Bureau of Meterology issued the warning at 1pm for areas including Dalby, Kingaroy, Esk, Injune, Gayndah, Kilcoy, Nanango and Tara.

Dalby residents are warned severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and large hailstonesover the next several hours.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services advises that people should:

Move your car under cover or away from trees.

Secure loose outdoor items.

Seek shelter, preferably indoors and never under trees.

Avoid using the telephone during a thunderstorm.

Beware of fallen trees and powerlines.

The next warning is due to be issued by 4:00 pm.
