Dalby Coles to open on Sunday from end of May

UPDATE: Coles Dalby has confirmed it will open for business on Sunday, May 31.

It is the first Sunday the store can open following the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission decision to allow Sunday trading for non-exempt stores.

Woolworths, Big W and Target could not confirm when the businesses would start trading on Sunday.

TUESDAY: The Queensland Industrial Relations Commission has granted an application for seven-day trading in Dalby.

Non-exempt stores, such as Woolworths, Coles and Big W, will now be permitted to open their doors from 10.30am to 6pm on Sunday.

The application was made by the National Retail Association, and opposed by Master Grocers Australia and the Queensland Retail Traders and Shopkeepers Association.

Western Downs Regional Council and the Dalby Chamber of Commerce also opposed the application.

The stores will also be allowed to open on certain public holidays, from 8.30am to 5.30pm - excluding Good Friday, Anzac Day, Labour Day, and Christmas Day.

The order, which was delivered by the QIRC yesterday, will come into effect on Friday, May 29.
