Surfing mishap leaves ironman Poole high and dry
Mooloolaba Ironman Matt Poole will face a race against the clock if he is to defend his 2014 Molokai to Oahu title.
A surfing mishap in Indonesia last week has left the experienced ironman with a broken leg.
A landing gone wrong saw Poole break his leg over in the Mentawai Islands last week, and while he's already back in Sydney awaiting the results of an MRI and surgeon's appointment tomorrow, the experienced Ironman could be facing an uphill battle to be ready for the Molokai.

The Australian Ironman Championships silver medallist was on an end of season surfing trip with fellow clubmates, including Hayden White.
"I've broken my leg and I'm having ligaments and my ankle looked at too," Poole said.
"It's not looking too great, but I'll know more once I've had the surgeon's appointment tomorrow."
Poole was staying on Sydney's northern beaches for the time being, awaiting more information on the extent of his injury, before he could make a decision on his Molokai title defence.
