A TEENAGE girl has been charged after an alleged child abduction at South Mackay yesterday.

It will be alleged a five-year-old girl was taken from a home around 12.30am.

A Child Abduction Alert was issued by police yesterday morning and the girl was located safe and well in Mackay around midday.

A 15-year-old Slade Point girl has been charged with abduction of a child under 16, burglary and commit indictable offence and stealing.  She will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.

The 22-year-old man who was also involved in the incident has been charged with possession of dangerous drugs and stealing. He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday.

Investigations are continuing.
