
Thieves run amok at weekend, stealing multiple vehicles
Police have renewed calls for residents to secure their property after thieves stole several vehicles at the weekend.
Sometime between 2-5am on Sunday an unknown number of thieves jimmied open the side door of a garage at Cunningham St home in Oakey.
Senior Constable Michael Hannant said the thieves located a set of keys for a Toyota Lexcan, on top of cupboard.
“They have started the vehicle and reversed without opening the garage door,” he said.
The vehicle and the thieves remain outstanding.
In an unrelated matter Oakey police recovered a 2013 Toyota Landcruiser duel cab ute, after it was dumped under the Mason Bridge, on Oakey-Pittsworth Rd.
The vehicle had been stolen from a Mt Kynoch address, about 10.35pm on Friday.

“It only had damage to the windscreen, but all the property that was in the tray was taken,” Const Hannant said.
This included a toolbox, several power tools and a portable fridge.
Sometime late Sunday night or early Monday morning, thieves stole a red 2011 Nissan Navara duel cab ute from a Corey St home, in Oakey.
Const Hannant said the thieves appear to have forced entry to the home, before stealing a set of keys.
He added that these two offences may be related.
