Todd proves his class in epic championship final

TENNIS: Dalby and District Tennis Association hosted their club championships last weekend, with 27 players involved in the two-day event.

Tournament director Ben Campbell was happy with the event and the quality of tennis on display from all.

"It was a good weekend of tennis; everyone that participated gave it their all and seemed to have a great time,” Campbell said.

"There were plenty of smiles and laughs to go along side the quality matches of tennis on display.”

The event also included past winners as well as current club champions, with Heidi Patch, a club champion from 2016, returning to take the final from 15-year-old junior Sally Brown who held her own against the women.

The men's final saw Ben Todd, looking for his third championship in a row, taking on club pro Ben Campbell.

Both men managed to navigate the pool stages without a hiccup, and put on an epic final for those in attendance.

In a match that lasted nearly three hours, Todd proved too strong once more and took the title 4-6, 6-2, 6-4.

William Fitzsimmons took out the 17 and under tournament, while other junior champions included Patrick Kelly, Hugh Faggotter and Patrick Forbes.
