Campaign to help families of toddler drowning tragedies
LOCKYER Valley residents are rallying behind two families devastated by drowning deaths on consecutive nights.
A 15-month-old boy, Tyson, died in a Brisbane Hospital on Saturday night after being pulled from a pool at his family's Regency Downs home on Friday night.
It came after the body of two-year-old boy, Caiden, was found in a dam at a Hatton Vale family's property on Thursday.
A friend of the Hatton Vale family has started an online fundraising page to help with the toddler's funeral costs.
As of yesterday, Mel Forgan's call for generosity had been met with more than $2000 in donations.
Ms Forgan said the two-year-old was one of eight siblings.
"Our loss is immeasurable and our grief is overwhelming," she said.
"He will be forever adored, cherished and loved and missed by us all."
Laidley Child Protection Investigation Unit officer-in-charge Bronagh Gillespie said the 15-month-old boy had fallen into a partially filled swimming pool at Hewett Dr home in Regency Downs shortly before 5.30pm on Friday.
"He was located by his mother a short time later," Detective Sergeant Gillespie said.
"We don't believe he was in the water for very long."
The boy's mother did CPR before paramedics arrived and took him to Ipswich Hospital.
He was resuscitated and stabilised before being taken to Lady Cilento Children's Hospital in Brisbane.
However, he succumbed to his injuries on Saturday night.
Det. Sgt Gillespie said the in-ground pool was being drained when the boy fell in.

She said it was properly fenced with a gate.
How the boy got to the water was still being investigated.
Det. Sgt Gillespie said the boy's parents were devastated.
"Parents are reminded to be vigilant with their children and watch them at all times."
Lockyer Valley Regional Council Mayor Steve Jones offered his thoughts to the families.
"It's exceptionally difficult for parents when one of their kids goes before them," Cr Jones said.
"It is a sad time for the community and our shire."
