Toowoomba businessman takes on farming expo
TOOWOOMBA businessman Bob Carroll has taken over one of the state's biggest rural expos.
The Australian Events director has been handed the reins of Farm Fantastic, Queensland's largest rural, retail, home and lifestyle expo.
Mr Carroll said he wanted to develop the event and make some positive changes.
"The event has been going for 14 years and was established originally as a field day that had a focus on the small crop farming and livestock and we want to get back to that," he said.
Mr Carroll said he wanted the event to focus on things such as small acreage farming, alternative livestock breeds, small crop farming and other produce.
"We (Australian Events) were looking to diversify into the area of farming and that has also been demonstrated with the upcoming Queensland Beef Expo in Toowoomba," he said.
"Farm Fantastic will have appeal right across south east Queensland with lots of activities for people who need advice on how to run a more efficient farm, harvesting, storage and marketing.
"Certain elements of the show will lean towards lifestyle but it will have clear aspects of farming and how it interacts with your lifestyle."
Farm Fantastic will be held at the Caboolture Showgrounds from July 22 to 24.
