Truckie averts firey situation on Warrego Highway

A TRUCK driver has avoided a fire spreading from his trailer to the prime mover after a brake malfunction this morning.

The male driver unhooked the cab from the trailer configuration after noticing his rear brakes had caught fire west of Dalby on the Warrego Highway about 7.15am.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services said the man had extinguished the fire contained to the trailer before crews arrived on scene.

Police said the incident occurred near the cotton gins about 10km west of Dalby.

The driver was not injured.
