UPDATE: Tara caravan blaze claims life of 88-year-old man

UPDATE: QUEENSLAND Police Service has confirmed that an 88-year-old man from Tara has died following a caravan fire on November 8.

Emergency services were called to the scene on Orchard Road, Tara at 10am following reports the caravan was engulfed in flames.

After the fire was extinguished firefighters found the remains of a person inside the caravan.

Investigations are continuing.

EARLIER: ONE person has died following a fire which engulfed a caravan near Tara this morning.

Following reports the caravan was up in flames, members of the Queensland Police Service, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services and Queensland Ambulance Service were called to the scene on Orchard Road at 10am.

Crews were able to swiftly control and extinguish the blaze, but the caravan was completely destroyed.

Once the fire was extinguished the remains of a person were discovered inside the caravan.

A formal identification process will be carried out to confirm the identity of the deceased.

A crime scene has been established, with officers working to determine the cause of the blaze.

Investigations are continuing.
