TWO mounted police officers have joined the Rockhampton forces at Beef Australia 2015.

Acting Sergeant Katie Blomkamp and Senior Sergeant Leita Andersen are patrolling Rockhampton Showgrounds with Troop horses Index and Hercules.

Katie said it was great to combine their hobby (riding horses) with their jobs.

"It's the best job in the world."

The horses have been a smash hit with the children attending Beef Australia this week, and they are welcome to approach carefully and pat Index and Hercules.
