Vinnies crazy for denim
IT'S denim month at St Vincent de Paul Society and in celebration, Vinnies stores all over Queensland are competing for the best "denim wall” store display.
Vinnies Dalby are going to be tough competition, with the entire front of their store decked out with all kinds of denim donations.
Centre coordinator Leigh McDonald said the Dalby store is in it to win it this year, after coming third in the competition last year.
"This year, all the stores in the Toowoomba Diocese, which covers Toowoomba out to Charleville and all the way down to Goondiwindi and Warwick areas, are entering their stores,” Mrs McDonald said.
"We came third in the competition last year, so this year we're going out to win.
"Everybody just has to like our Dalby photo on Facebook,” she said.
If the Dalby store image generates the most "likes” on the QLD Vinnies Facebook page, they will win $250, which Mrs McDonald would like to spend on treating the generous volunteers.
"The store that wins will win $250 this year, so if we win, we'd like to spend that on our volunteers,” Mrs McDonald said.
"Last year we won $50 for coming third and we spent that on lunch for the whole week for our volunteers.
"We have something like 55 volunteers in our Dalby store but we're always looking for more - we always need them,” she said.
