Virgin offers free food on domestic flights

Virgin Australia customers will receive free food on flights across Australia.

The free food service took off today, along with a free checked baggage service.

However, the new service depends on the time of day and the duration of the flight.

Virgin Australia chief customer officer Mark Hassell said the rollout of free food and checked baggage, along with existing free wireless in-flight entertainment, was an important part of Virgin's service.

"Today's announcement, coupled with our exceptional service and leadership in on-time performance, puts us in a strong position to continue to grow our loyal customer base," Mr Hassell said.

Alternative food and drink can still be purchased from the existing retail menu.
