Volvo driver Scott McLaughlin laments slow start
VOLVO driver Scott McLaughlin celebrated the team's first V8 Championship success at Barbagallo Raceway in Perth 12 months ago but he is expecting a tougher race this time.
The 21-year-old Kiwi (pictured) said two wins at Phillip Island and one in Sydney last season had made him a better driver but with engine problems affecting Volvo this campaign, he was unsure what to expect on the weekend.
"Last year for us to win there was a big achievement for the whole team, but we're going in this year probably more on the back foot," McLaughlin told v8supercars.com.au.
"Obviously the championship is not going as good as we want it to be - we're just looking forward to heading back and giving it a good hard crack."
Craig Lowndes will be aiming for a 100th win and he is also looking to equal the record of four straight pole positions set by Mark Winterbottom in 2011.
