WA puts an end to Sheffield Shield final fixture furore

THE Sheffield Shield final between Victoria and Western Australia will be played in Hobart after WA Cricket officials decided not to press ahead with legal action over the venue.

Officials had been considering a Federal Court injunction after Cricket Australia announced the match would be played at Bellerive Oval, starting Saturday.

Because of those circumstances, Cricket Australia said it would not enforce the rules which say if a team can not host the final in its own state, it must give up hosting rights to the other finalist.

WACA chief executive Christina Matthews said she wasn't happy with the outcome, but "the longer we drag this out, the more difficult it is on our team".
