Want to join the Jacqui Lambie party? Just Facebook her

SIX months after quitting the Palmer United Party, Tasmanian senator Jacqui Lambie has launched her own, and you can join by Facebooking her.

In a statement Sen Lambie said the JLN - the Jacqui Lambie Network party - would concentrate on finding federal candidates.

"Once the Australian Electoral Commission has officially processed and cleared the Network's registration - just like other major political parties, the Network will be able to field senate and lower house candidates in future federal elections," she said.

"And just like other political parties, the people of Tasmania and other states will have the option of voting above the line when they mark their ballot papers, should they want to choose the candidates I endorse."

The statement urged interested people to contact her on her Facebook page.

According to the party's constitution, the JLN is concentrating on Tasmania.

It said the party aimed to "represent the people of Tasmania through the parliamentary system at a national and state level" and "identify, raise awareness of, focus upon and represent at a national and state level the interests of Tasmanians in relation to the issues that affect the State of Tasmania".

The constitution also encouraged members to engage in conscientious voting.

Ms Lambie said the party would put its members' home states first and focus on representing defence force members and veterans.

She said the party would "oppose to Sharia law being imposed in Australia either formally or informally and would promote a policy of undivided loyalty to the Australian constitution and people".

Ms Lambie told reporters she was talking to a "number of eminent Australians" about joining. She did not rule out calling on former PUP colleague Glenn Lazarus to join, but did rule out accepting membership from Pauline Hanson.
