THE FIRST blade for the wind turbines at the Coopers Gap Wind Farm has made its way through Dalby.

When it is completed, the wind farm at Cooranga North will be one of Australia's largest.

The initial trek from the Port of Brisbane to the wind farm was made, passing through Dalby at 4am on Tuesday.

A police escort was required for the convoy carrying the 67m long blade.

The convoy drove through town on Drayton St, before turning onto Volker St, to complete the journey to Cooranga North.

Drayton St was closed briefly to allow the blade to pass through town.

There is no information about when the next blades will come through town.
