Wise Dalby man to officiate at GC2018

TRIATHLON: Dalby Aquatic Centre manager Micheal Wise has been chosen as as a triathlon technical official at the Commonwealth Games next year.

Only 10 Australians have been given the nod to officiate, and Wise is over the moon he is one of them.

"I've been a technical official for triathlons for 24 years, so to get this is a dream,” Wise said.

"It's been a four-year process for technical officials around Australia to enhance their skills.

"There's been a lot of courses and races I've had to attend to be able to go to the Commonwealth Games.

"I've had to officiate all over Australia and I even had to go to New Zealand.”

Triathlon Australia set a stringent selection criteria for those wanting to officiate, and Wise still has a couple of things left to tick off.

"There's still some courses I've got to do in Sydney later in the year.

"From here the only one bigger is the Olympics, so hopefully we'll get to nominate to go in two years' time.”
