Ambulance services arrived at the scene to find a woman was trapped in the car by her legs, but the male patient had managed to escape.

The incident occurred along Surat Development Road near Halliford, about 3km before the turnoff to Tara, according to a QPS spokeswoman.

The woman sustained injuries to her chest and lower leg fractures, while the male patient sustained abdominal injuries, according to a QAS spokesman.

Both were airlifted to Toowoomba Base Hospital by LifeFlight helicopter in a stable condition.
