Young football stars on show as juniors launch season

FOOTBALL: The next generation of Dalby Tigers stars were on show when the junior teams hit the field for the first time in 2018 at the Dalby PCYC last weekend.

Junior co-ordinator Jen Tunley said the club was in a strong position for this year's campaign.

"We've got 130 juniors so far, which is probably a bit up on last year's number,” Tunley said.

"We've also had some new families join this season which is great to see.”

The club hopes to replicate the success it achieved last season, which included the U12/13s team remaining undefeated throughout the competition.

Tunley also said the Tigers would welcome more players to the club with open arms.

"Our competitive teams are looking strong for both the intra club competition we're in and also the regular competition against Chinchilla,” she said.

"We'll always welcome any new players. Come on down and we'll get you into a team.”

The Tigers senior teams both suffered setbacks at the weekend ahead of this Sunday's competition break.

The men went down 6-1 at home to a surging USQ outfit, with Bradley Davidson the lone Tiger on the scoresheet.

The women lost 3-0 to fellow top-four side St Albans.
