Youth united at Dalby skate park

Jacob is one of a core group of skaters who frequent the park - a location which has also helped form friendships.

Jacob said one of his biggest thrills was showing upcoming scooter riders the ropes.

"I've taught a lot of kids," he said.

He shared the space with youngsters from across town at the annual youth festival Parkfest on Friday night.

Organiser Karmyn Dorries said the skate park was a great location to bring youngsters together for an afternoon of fun.

"I think the skate park really draws them here," she said.

"We get a big crowd when we use this space."

Ms Dorries said events such as Parkfest helped young people engage with the wider community.

"There are not many activities in Dalby for youth of this age," she said.
