Children are naturally creative, but as they get older and more focused on schoolwork and exams, they have less opportunity to get messy, get inventive, or express themselves through art.
Our two-hour School's Out Art Mash-Ups will give them the perfect break from homework and allow them to have fun by experimenting with pottery and letting their imaginations run wild. There is something to suit every inquisitive and creative mind.
In celebration of International Hat Day, participants will create a fabulous altered hat using collage and assemblage techniques. They will use collaging techniques and a range of materials to decorate a top hat and turn it into a work of art that they can wear!
To create their altered hat, participants will be able to choose items from a range of stations with different themes. These will include: nature, technology, plastic trinkets, and books/magazines. So whether it’s Steam Punk, feathers and animals, sports and adventure, or computers and technology that your young artist is passionate about, there is something for everyone.
There will be a variety of themes to choose from or they can mix and match and create something different.
Secondary school students will be able to consider themes from their Visual Art studies and use this opportunity to add their Altered Hat to their folio.
Or, if you are planning on going to CapriCon this year, why not start work on your costume with this opportunity to create an eccentric and incredible hat?
